My name is June Wildash, I am a school librarian, mother of two grown sons and friend to Max the cat. My art is my passion and folk art a great love. Recently after becoming an American Citizen I realised what a path life has taken me on. I was born in Sydney, Australia, third daughter to our Mum and Dad. My childhood memories always bring a smile to my face, lots of sister fun. Our Mum was a wonderful seamstress and I spent many hours at her side learning her sewing secrets. My dad was handy with a needle and thread and not a stranger to a sewing machine. I don't remember a time when I didn't sew. I was always making doll clothes and eventually my own clothes. As a young bride I came to America and pursued my love of textiles and fabric at every opportunity. Over the years I have been an avid quilter and knitter, teaching quilting and knitting at various times. My early adventures in doll making led me to develop a deep appreciation for cloth dolls and related folk art. I actively participate in Art Shows around the Midwest meeting wonderful folk who appreciate my creations. I enjoy re-working things I discover, vintage fabrics, wooden findings etc. I have a studio full of treasures to use in creating my art. It is always a curiousity to me the lives and paths these items have taken in finding their way to me. I have been featured in several magazines, Better Homes and Gardens and Australian Cloth Dolls and Teddy Bears. I hope you will enjoy my creations and visit often. |
