The Goddess of Victory in the Louvre Museum in Paris inspired the first sketch that lead to this interpretive series of watercolor and gouache paintings. Each piece begins with a pencil sketch standing in front of an original masterpiece in one of the great museums of the world.

Frames painted by the artist to compliment each image reinvent the ornate carved frames of the old masterpieces. Using transparent acrylic glazes, the frames become a lively sculptural element of the art. Altogether a fresh, contemporary take on five hundred years of art history.

To view over forty original works and 100 prints in person, find Mernie at a Northern California art festival. Her booth is called 'The Faux Louvre'.

notes on prints - Since each frame is individually painted, there will be slight variations, but each will perfectly compliment the colors of the art itself. There are currently over 100 different print images available. Five favorite angels are shown as examples.
